Polytechnic West Website Privacy Statement

Polytechnic West understands that users of the internet may be concerned about their privacy and the collection and use of their personal information. This Statement will outline briefly how Polytechnic West collects and treats your personal information when you access and use the college’s website.

Polytechnic West collects, uses, holds and discloses personal information in accordance with the Information Privacy Principles of the Privacy Act (1988) as amended.

Collection of Personal Information

Personal information will not be collected from you except when you knowingly provide it to the college through the Polytechnic West website, Training Information Centre, call centres, enrolment process, or other points of enquiry at the college.

If you complete an online form through the Polytechnic West website, only information contained in the form will be collected. If you leave the website, close the browser window or cancel the application before you submit the form, the information entered will be automatically deleted and no information will be further collected by the college.

The information collected will be used to attend to your enquiry or deal with your request. Your personal details may also be used by Polytechnic West to provide you with information about the college’s products, services and other information, where you have specifically granted the college permission to do so.

Use and Disclosure of Information

Polytechnic West will not use or disclose information collected from you without your consent. Your details will only be used to attend to your specific enquiry or request, or to send you information about Polytechnic West products and services where you have specifically granted the college permission to do so, or as required under specific law.

Email Communications

You may on occasion wish to contact the college through email. The following is a brief outline of how information received through email communication is dealt with by Polytechnic West.

When you send an email to Polytechnic West, your email address and/or other personally identifiable information:

• will never be disclosed, rented or sold to third parties.
  
• may be forwarded to the appropriate staff person within the college so that your query is dealt with as quickly and as accurately as possible. Your information will not be passed on to third parties external to the college without your express permission.
  
• may be combined with other information you have provided at registration to the college. Your information may be merged with information from other sources in order to enhance the college’s ability to provide you with more relevant information. E.g. If you are already enrolled, we may combine your enrolment details with your query, before dealing with it or passing it on to the appropriate staff person in the college, so that the answer to your query is specific and relevant.
  
• For processing in the course of delivery, an email may be transferred in transit outside Australia, such as the United States, Canada or other. Your personal information will not be used for any other purpose outside Western Australia.
